SKATE | Broadway Bomb 2010 Race & After Parties

Broadway-Bomb-2010-SampleSaleShop.comThe Broadway Bomb is an annual longboarding/skating race … through New York City traffic! It’s been described as a race “for skaters with a death wish”. For this weekend’s tenth anniversary Bomb, founders Ian Nichols and Fred Mahe are expecting over 400 skaters. “They train all year for 30 minutes of glory!”

All skaters must be 18+ to race, and helmets are mandatory!

SATURDAY October 16th– Broadway Bomb 2010!!!!!!!!! (location map)
The race will begin at 12pm – high noon!  The meeting point is at Riverside Park at 116th street & Broadway in Manhattan.  The race begins just a block away up a big hill that everyone must get to the top of however you want but once you’re on Broadway you better drop that board and start pushing!!

The rain date (in case it rains Saturday) is the next day, Sunday the 17th.

SATURDAY- AWARDS CEREMONY, BARBEQUE , AND BLOCK PARTY
The after-race party at 2pm at East River Park in Manhattan.  To get there either skate to the east side of Manhattan and up the river until you see the longboarders having a party near the basketball courts or ride the  L train to 1st avenue and walk down to 10th street and over the foot bridge.  (location map)

From 7pm on with drink specials and a Video Premier of the 25 minute film that was produced by Joe Goodman from last year’s event, at 8pm. Butternuts Beer will be on special for $1 to all riders as well as non-alcoholic Kombucha. The Bustin Boards store is on the same block!
