The Livingroom Sessions, powered by Creative Control TV is a new webseries releasing in June 2011 that offers unmasked, experiential glimpses into the lives of underground artists and the settings in which they create…it’s a Brooklyn thing.

1) How does art and creation influence your style?

Making The Livingroom Sessions, and appearing on camera, even as secondary focus, has made me far more aware of my style. I’ve always told people my septum ring and tattoo function as my permanent style… they make me lazy. I find I’d often rather put my energy into whatever I’m working on than what’s on my body. It’s sort of the antithesis of Brooklyn cool, but I own that downfall.

However, there is also the truth that I’ve held this idea of what an artist is “supposed to look like” since I was a kid. This vision, along with the folks I surround myself with, inspire me to seek out local designers and get creative with what I own.

2) Who are your style icons?

Frida Kahlo had the best all time style– the colors, the flowers, the jewelry. The people of the Omo Valley in Ethiopia and the unbelievable way they adorn their bodies with nature also inspires me. Twiggy and her simplicity. Andre 3000 and his total wackiness. I am inspired by big color, patterns and cultural flare. On the other end of the spectrum, I admire a New York/Parisian palette: black and black and black, plus a little stripes and a beret.

3) Tell us the story behind one of your favorite articles/accessories.

This necklace was given to me by my love. I spotted it in a Tibetan shop near Lincoln Center. You’d blink and miss it if you weren’t looking carefully. We were browsing and I was gasping at the selection of pieces from around the world. This one really caught my eye. Months later it appeared as my birthday gift, much to my amazement. It’s not really a necklace, but a bunch of beads that I insisted on wearing just as it was.

I later found out via my friend Christina Ghubril, who now uses these beads in her Tea on Tuesdays jewelry collection, that they were originally from the Czech Republic and in trading, made their way to Mali, where they are now used as traditional wedding beads.

Very dark, I don’t like bright colors.  I like the grimy, blue-collar, ‘Gangs of New York’ type look.  I’m rockin black 511 Levi’s, scuffed black and white chucks, a black hoodie (checkered texture), and a acid washed jean jacket with black leather sleeves.

5.  What gets you the most looks and compliments?
I’m most well known for wearing chucks, I have a plethora of them shits!!! Exclusive ones too that no man will ever attain…lol
